Child Suffers Brain Injury In Louisville Hit And Run Accident

The Courier-Journal is reporting a hit and run accident that left a child with serious brain injury. According to the news story written by Danielle Lerner, a 9-year old child was struck by a vehicle in the 1000 block of East Broadway near Barret Avenue. The tragic accident occurred on February 2 around 9:09 p.m. The child’s mother had stopped her vehicle in the median to allow her daughter to go back inside a dance studio to retrieve a forgotten item. The child was running around the rear of her vehicle toward the sidewalk when a white vehicle struck her. She was thrown approximately 50 feet and came to rest under a parked vehicle. Bystanders helped lift the rear of the vehicle to free the trapped child.  The vehicle did not stop. Law enforcement officials are still investigating.  The driver of the vehicle may face criminal charges associated with the hit and run accident. Lexington Car Accident Sends Two People To The Hospital

Last week, a car accident sent two people to the hospital according to a report by WKYT. The news report states that Lexington police were investigating the crash that occurred at the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Jesselin Drive. It appears that the driver of a black vehicle ran the red light at the intersection and collided with a white SUV. Both drivers had to be cut from their vehicles. One witness said that the crash was so loud that he thought a car had hit a building. Investigators had not filed any charges but believe that the car that ran the red light may have been stolen. Fairdale High School Students Injured In Car Accident

In a tragic car accident earlier this month, four teenagers were injured when the vehicle they were in struck a tree in the 10300 block of Fox Avenue. WDRB reported that the four Fairdale High students were on their way home from school when the driver lost control of the vehicle before leaving the road and colliding with a tree. According to the WDRB news story, two passengers were ejected from the vehicle in the collision. Those two passengers and the driver were transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The third passenger was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
